HUNT redeveloped the ground floor of the former Campus Connections Bookstore into several new venues.  The project created a retail court that enhances and enlivens the existing RIT Student Union.  The renovated space includes a bakery themed café offering freshly baked pastries and wireless internet access.

In the seating area, the design incorporates the salvaged custom casework from the former bookstore’s Colby Room. A convenience store is also included which offers beverages and snacks for daytime students, faculty and staff.
A central feature of the space is a computer and photography store that includes a studio setup and printing kiosk.

HUNT worked closely with RIT staff to meet the needs of storage and display for the various types of equipment.

HUNT also designed a bridge through the atrium space connecting the second-floor offices with the existing elevator.

The 10,000 SF project was on an accelerated schedule with a short design period in order to be completed in time for the start of the 2010 academic year.
