Rural Schools Association Executive Director David Little played host at Seneca Falls’ Gould Hotel on Friday June 15th, as a crowd of Four County members and Sharon Sweeney’s friends and family toasted her 24 years of service. Amongst the evening highlights, Sharon was awarded Rural School’s William Deming Recognition Award for Long & Meritorious Service to Education.
Sharon’s career was marked by her ability to deftly and warmly guide her constituent members through dramatic sea changes in the NYS education world; and, according to David, her mantle has been passed to an equally impressive successor, Tom Nespeca. Tom is the treasurer of the NYSSBA, a Monroe 1 BOCES Board member, and his deep knowledge will make him an enormous asset to both the Association and the greater Finger Lakes and Western New York region.
