Following some emergency repairs at Dunn Field prior to the 2016 baseball season, the City of Elmira called on HUNT to develop a plan to prioritize needs for the 100-year-old stadium. The result -- a four-year capital plan that immediately resulted in year-one seating reinforcements, masonry repairs, and comprehensive ADA accessibility upgrades. Year-two and three improvements – spearheaded by HUNT’s Chris Bond, PE and Matthew Mentuck, will include additional seating-framing, railing upgrades, and slab reconstruction. Structural, steel cleaning, and painting are scheduled for year four. These cooperative corrective and preventative maintenance items were heralded by the community and design partners as important steps in extending the stadium’s service life.
"It's historic so there are different guidelines and regulations that we have to follow," said Michael Collins, Elmira City Manager.
